The interface part of the data line is mainly composed of a shell and a contact piece. Nowadays, mainstream data lines are coated with a thin layer of gold on the contacts to extend the plug life of the data lines and avoid the oxidation of the contacts, which may lead to unstable charging and transmission.

The gold-plated thickness of a good quality data cable is generally thick (about 50 um), while a general data cable will only be plated with a thin layer of gold.

Gold plating only solves the problems of stability and life, and has no effect on the charging speed.
